How gorgeous has summer been in Europe? Oh my goodness we are loving it! These slow, happy, sunshiny days are just perfect. With all of the rushing around and non-stop school days it has been so good to have time together. We’ve still had a slight routine in that in the mornings we’ve been getting to grips again with our hobbies and in the afternoon we stop, make a cool drink and take an hour out to be quiet together and read our books. We have each really got stuck into our choice of summer reads this year and one book which has gripped Helena from the start is Katherine Rundell’s The Explorer. She has longed each day to get on with the next chapter!
Set in the Amazon jungle, four children are stranded when their plane crashes. They are left to survive alone and although Fred has longed for adventure and to make a name for himself doing such things, this was not what he planned. This fabulous adventure book is fast-paced and keeps you wondering what will happen to the children. The descriptive language is so incredible it plunges you immediately in. As soon as Helena finished the book, she passed it on to me and told me I had to read it. I was captivated! If you read anything this summer, just one book, read this! And read it before you pass it on to your children. You will love it just as much as they do!
You can purchase The Explorer in all good bookstores and online on Amazon (UK) and (US).
